 GUIDANCE TO PARENTS ABOUT ILL EFFECTS OF CYBER PRONOGRAPHY.
As per the directions of Honorable Mumbai High Court, we are furnishing herewith information and warnings to parents about the ill effects of Cyber Pornography. On-line computer exploration opens a world of possibilities for children. They can be exposed to dangers as they explore the information highway. There are many instances of individuals who attempt to sexually exploit children through the use of on-line services and the Internet. Hence it is important for parents to understand that children can be indirectly victimized through conversation, i.e. "chat," as well as the transfer of sexually explicit information and material.
 

 

Look out for the following symptoms that your child might be at risk of falling prey to cyber-porn or other objectionable stuff on the Net: -

  • The child spends large amounts of time on the Net, especially during night.
  • You find pornography on your child's computer.
  • The child receives phone calls from men you don't know
  • The child makes calls, sometimes long distance, to numbers you don't recognize.
  • The child receives mail, gifts, or packages from someone you don't know.
  • The child turns the computer monitor off or quickly changes the screen on the monitor when you come into the room.
  • The child becomes withdrawn from the family.

Few suggestions and Tips for parents to ensure the safety of their Children from the evil of online pornography: -

  • Keep the Computer in the common Family Area
  • Block cyber porn with software and other tools.

  • Establish Rules for on-line Use by children.
  • Become more computer literate and Internet savvy yourself so that you understand what your children are doing on the Internet/ computer.
  • Always keep a check on the sites visited by your Children. Check the 'Temporary Internet Files" and "History" folders on your computer on a regular basis to get an idea of the websites accessed by your Children.
  • Make your children understand that the computer is a tool for educational purposes and for positive communication

    If you find that your children have been victimized by child pornographers, Stalkers etc, you can lodge your complaints in this regard to Cyber Crime Investigation Cell (CCIC) of Mumbai Police.
